Why choose callahan's k9 camp?
Dog camp offers a unique experience, unlike just a casual stroll in the neighborhood or a standard day care. It provides a beneficial exercise routine that dogs need to flourish. This regimen helps eliminate undesirable behaviors that stem from a buildup of energy, feelings of loneliness, and boredom.
At camp the dogs will...
-
Run, play and explore
-
Socialize with friendly dogs in a healthy manner
-
Travel an average of 6-10 miles per camp adventure
-
Come home tired and happy

How do I know if my dog is suited for camp ?
After you submit your New Camper Questionnaire, we will set up an evaluation and assess your dog's behavior and energy level. This will help us see if Dog Camp is a good fit for your dog. Honesty on your dog's typical behaviors and current training level is vital during these evaluations for the safety of you, your dog, the current pack, and staff.
Will my dog come back dirty ?
We hike in the forest in all kinds of weather: rain, snow, and sunshine. When the dogs run they tend to kick up dirt and debris. In the wet conditions like rain/snow and in the summer when we are near the water more often, the dogs will get wet. I do my best to ensure the dogs come home in reasonable shape and will towel off each dog.
what safety measures do you have?
We both have had previous careers in emergency veterinary medicine and are trained in handling pet emergencies. We also carry a dog first aid kit with us on the hikes and we are Pet First Aid and CPR certified. We have an emergency dog harness to carry dogs out of the woods and to a veterinary hospital should anything happen where they are unable to walk themselves. We also carry a Garmin Astro 430 GPS remote that tracks dogs using GPS collars. Any new dog joining the pack will wear a GPS collar provided by me and drag a long line until they have shown off leash skills. I only have a certain number of collars available right now. If you are interested in buying a Garmin collar that will pair up with my remote to ensure your dog always has a GPS collar, Please let me know and I can help you find one used online.
